“Kung Fu Hustle” Paired With Miller High Life

“Kung Fu Hustle” is a 2004 comedy directed by Stephen Chow, who wrote the script with Huo Xin, Chan Man-keung, and Jeffrey Lau.  It stars Chow, Yuen Wah, Yuen Qiu, Danny Chan Kwok-kwan, and Bruce Leung Siu-lung.  The film follows a pair of wannabe gangsters who aspire to join the “Axe Gang” and an old apartment complex whose residences are much more than they seem.  The film is about transformation and transcendence.  A number of 1970s Hong Kong action film stars come out of retirement to show they can still hit the punchline as well as an opponent.  It is a parody of old Kung Fu movies combined with modern special effects.  It goes for laughs in addition to action.  This is a very entertaining film.

The Beer Lover’s Guide To The Movies pairs this beer with Miller High Life.  It is an America Adjunct Lager with an ABV of 4.6%.  It pours a crystal clear yellow.  It smells of grainy malts.  It tastes of corn, and grains with a crazy amount of carbonation that gives way to a smooth finish.  This is the iconic champagne of beers.  This is a great beer for after mowing the lawn on a hot summer day or watching this film.  You can watch Chow’s character transform and transcend to the High Life at the end of the film and enjoy a bit of the Higher Life yourself with this beer.
